Welcome Back. My Best of 2013.

Wow sorry, it has been a really long time! So now lets dust off the keyboard and get back to blogging. I wanted to make a quick post about my top 5 favorite movies that I viewed last year. Of course, it is full of surprises. So here we go.

5. Gingerdeadman Vs The Evil Bong

It's a War of the Colossal Freaks when serial killing cookie, GINGERDEAD MAN, tracks down the lone survivor of his murderous rampage, SARAH LEIGH (Robin Sydney), to take care of unfinished business. But his devious plans go up in smoke when Sarah meets LARNELL (John Patrick Jordan), who has a pint-sized problem of his own. The EVIL BONG, EEBEE, has been unleashed once again. Bodies begin to pile up as Gingerdead Man carves a path for them. Their only salvation is to turn to help from the dastardly Bong. It's one tough cookie versus one bad trip mother when the two Titans of Terror hash out a war in the Bong World. The stakes have never been higher. From IMBD

This may not have been as fun as the originals. But bring to extremely fun franchises together and you have a good time. John Patrick Jordan has his character down pat! The only thing that was hard to watch was the odd teeth and month of the Gingerdead Man. If you're a fan of low budget films that are fun you must check this out. If you are a fan of the series well you already have.

4 The Lords of Salem

Heidi, a blond rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the "Big H Radio Team." A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, a gift of the Lords. She assumes it's a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords' record, it starts to play backward, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma. Later, Whitey plays the Lords' record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with his listeners. The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters, and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon, Heidi and her cohorts are far from the rock spectacle they're expecting. The original Lords of Salem are returning and they're out for blood. From IMBD

So Rob Zombie did something right. I liked everything about this movie. The cinematography was tight the story was well blended and the cast was solid. I'm still not a big fan of Sheri Moon Zombie but she did play the part well.

3 Sharknado

When a freak hurricane swamps Los Angeles, nature's deadliest killer rules sea, land, and air as thousands of sharks terrorize the waterlogged populace.

There is nothing I can say that has not been said already. I really got a kick out of this movie. It was meant to be fun and it was. Did it have its fair share of plot holes and bad CGI sure it did? Do I still have a man crush on Ian Ziering I sure do! This has to be the most talked about movie last year SyFy could not ask for anything more.

2 Carrie

A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloƫ Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Carrie is directed by Kimberly Peirce with a screenplay by Lawrence D. Cohen and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.Written by Sony Pictures Entertainment

The first true horror movie I watched at a young age was Carrie. So I was so scared of the fact they were doing a remake. Chloe was so wonderful in this role you could not help but fell head over heels for her. This was a very well done version of the movie.

1 Evil Dead 2013

Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods. The evil presence possesses them until only one is left to fight for survival.

Boy, all the controversy over this remake! Fanboys everywhere ready to lop off a few heads! But boy did it deliver. From the opening to the end, I was blown away. How much more fun could you have at a movie theater this year. The young cast was mesmerizing, it was climatically breathtaking and the soundtrack! Man, this has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard. The music set the tone for the whole movie.

Hell, the 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 even made a cameo along with Bruce Campbell. I really would like to see a squeal that stands on its own and stays away from the Evil Dead 2 comedy romp.

So yeah there it is, for those of you that know me are not surprised by Gingerdead Man or Sharknado. I do want to add that Texas Chainsaw and You're Next came close to the #5 spot. But GvsE was just a fun film that made me happy. I still need to watch Hatchet 3, Warm Bodies, and World War Z which I'm sure will not change my top 5. Sure hope 2014 is as much fun as 2013 was.
