Luther Heggs aspires to being a reporter for his small town newspaper, the Rachel Courier Express. He gets his big break when the editor asks him to spend the night at the Simmons mansion that, 20 years before, was the site of a now famous murder-suicide. The case has aroused local interest not only because of the anniversary but due to the fact that the family heir, Nick Simmons, has returned to Rachel aiming to tear the mansion down. Luther's account of his wild, ghost-ridden night in the house leads Simmons to sue for libel, but with the aid of his friend Kelsey they determine what exactly happened that night long ago and the identity of the real killer.

This 1966 horror-comedy is a favorite of so many people- including our friend, wrestling icon Jim Cornette- and features lots of familiar faces that you’ll recognize from classic TV shows. Don Knotts is hilarious , playing is stock character, loaded with phony bravado while shaking like a leaf in reality- and his love interest, Joan Staley, is definitely worth facing any frights for! You’ll recognize the music styling of Vic Mizzy, who provides the soundtrack- he did lots of theme and background music for classic TV shows as well, including “The Addams Family”.

This “Barney” entry  runs tonight at 8 pm eastern/pacific, 7 pm central, and please check your local listings for the time it runs where you are. In Chicago, viewers get a Steven Spielberg The Duel on our sister station, WCIU, the U, at 11 am.

I still have the Main Tile available for down load or to listen to on sound cloud. What a great movie to sit and share with the family tonight. I loved watching this a few years back with my oldest  so maybe tonight my youngest will tune in.
